| Another season
has come and gone and another calf crop is on
the ground. It is still a difficult task to market
these critters, but if we are to survive as an
economic and genetic force in the cattle industry,
we must, more than ever, stick together and support
each other. We were very encouraged by the support
that the hayshaker sale got. Well done people.
We have also got some interesting and exciting
events happening this fall and winter, and with
everyone's support, we will be able to renew
old friendships, take part in some great hospitality,
see and/or try to purchase some awesome and decidedly
undervalued livestock. We have every expectation
that with perseverance and teamwork, we
will still be around this time next year with
another calf crop on the ground and hopefully
a more vigorous environment in which to market
our stock.
This fall, you can look for
some Red Skye critters to be on the block at
various auctions around the province thanks to
the fine management of my herd by Bryan Mackenzie.
At the Tradition with a Vision Sale in September,
Bryan has been kind enough to include three of
our bred heifers in his sale. Look in the catalogue
for specific information on 329N and 316N that
we purchased from Prime Time last fall and for
6N out of our 7L cow we purchased from Bob Jensen
at the Seniorita Sale two years ago.
Currently
we have a bred heifer nominated for the Red Roundup
Show and Sale this fall. She is the 8N calf from
the 46G cow we purchased from Ringstead ranch
two years age.
At the Old's All A.I'ed sale in
November, look for a few more of our critters.
A bred heifer 304N purchased as a calf from Prime
Time last fall will be on offer as well as 5N,
a bred heifer purchased last
fall from Darren Ippolito of Moose Creek. We
will also be offering 35M purchased from Gloria
Blades of Blades Red Angus two years ago.
She has been bred to Red Brylor SDL N-BAR, and
if her calf of this year is any indication, next
year's calf will be outstanding. We have
also flushed the Ringstead 46G cow and put them
with the Gold pedigree. Some of these embryos
will be also be available at this sale.
To round out my sales this
year, we are offering five bred heifers at the
No Surprises Commercial Sale at Fort MacLeod
this fall.
Although we have cut back on the number
of shows we have entered this year, we will be
showing our Sedona bull with the Brylor
show string this fall. Look for us at the Chinook
Gold Show, and at Farmfair and Agribition. |
